Diffuse Alopecia is the name given to an acquired non-specific hair loss characterised by a gradual or sudden reduction in hair-shaft density per sq cm over the entire scalp region.
Possible causes include:
Bulimia or Anorexia Nervosa.
Low serum ferritin, serum iron or vitamin B12.
Hyper / hypo thyroidism.
Post fever (body temperature of 102.5 °F or above).
