TRICHOLOGICAL SOCIETY'S THIRD GRADUATION AND PRESIDENT'S DAY

Novartis Foundation - London
Monday 25th February 2002 witnessed The Society's 3rd Annual Graduation Day and President's Day in London.
The reigning president - Mr Kenneth Price (Chemist) presided.
Members and their guests arrived at the delightful Novartis Foundation in Portland Place London at mid-day
Following the conclusion of lunch at 1.30 pm the members and guests assembled in the magnificent first floor Reception Room.
Procession
At 2 pm the President arrived in procession to the stirring opening music of the Saint-Saens Organ Concerto No.3 in C minor.
The procession included Dr N Farjo (IPP) Mr D Dane (PP) Mr A Hodge(P) Mr R Carter (P) Dr R Rogers Miss Helen Moore Mrs Sally-Ann Tarver.
The Welcome
Mrs Sally-Ann Tarver welcomed members and guests from all parts of England and Wales., and presented apologies for absence and good wishes from the following members: Dr Connor Kiely (Eire), Dr Noel Digby (USA), Dr Bessam Farjo (UK), Mr Edward Stevens, Mrs Ros McDonnell, Mrs Mandy Baldwin, Mrs Marion White.
Mrs Karen Todd, Mr Gary Todd, Mr Simon Griffiths and Dr Peter Feldschreiber were unavoidably absent through illness.
Guest apologies - Mr Stuart Smitherman Mr White.
The President's Address
Within his address the President made specific mention of The Society's unique and hitherto much needed role - linking all professions associated with hair. He also mentioned The Society's Web Site and its successes, and of the greatly merited Fellowship to be bestowed on Mr Robert Olding.
The Presentations
The Society was proud to present the following distinguished persons:
Member: Mrs Karen Watkins (Nutritionist and mineral analyst)
Licentiates: Mrs Gina Lourens Mrs Sarah Smitherman Mr Michael Eaton (Trichology)
Patron: Mr Alastair B. Hodge. (Barrister at Law)
Fellow: Mr Robert D. Olding. (Trichologist) Mr Olding responded appropriately adding some reminiscences of his 50+ years in practice (as Englands leading trichologist - Ed.).(Read part of his address)
Graduation Day Addresses
The Society enjoyed two fine addresses from: Mrs Karen Watkins BA (Hons)., Dip.ION
and from Mr Alastair B. Hodge (Barrister at Law).
Pleasant duties
Miss Claire Stevens presented a floral bouquet to Mrs Mary Price (our President's Wife).
Miss Helen Moore presented to our president - a framed certificate conveying The Society's esteem.
The Conclusion
Mrs Sally-Ann Tarver closed the formalities of the afternoon with good wishes to all, and a call to order for the National Anthem.
Retiring
The retiring procession was formed during music from Elgar's Nimrod (from Enigma Variations)
viz: The President, Dr N Farjo (IPP) Mr D Dane (PP) Mr A B Hodge, Mr R Carter, Mr R Olding, Miss H Moore, Dr R Rogers, Mrs K Watkins, Mr M Eaton, Mrs G Lourens, Mrs S Smitherman, Mrs S-A Tarver and the Directors of Ceremonies.
The President and procession then retired to the Toccata (finale from 5th Symphony - Widor)
Reception
The President and Mrs Price presided at the buffet reception which followed.

The Management and Staff at Novartis Foundation for their superb hospitality throughout the day.
We extend our special thoughts to Mrs Karen and Mr Gary Todd, to Mr Simon Griffiths and to Dr Peter Feldschreiber who were each prevented from attending for health reasons. You were each greatly missed. We hope that all will be well again with each of you very soon.
