The annual fee once paid is non-returnable in the event of the student withdrawing from the course. Courses may commence on the first day of any month.
As The Society does not provide a brochure (its comprehensive and very large website is considered a greater facility), the following overview is intended to assist you. Please email the Director of Education to discuss any points which are unclear.
It is unfortunate that the science of trichology has over many years been derided by charlatan practitioners and those 'qualified' with the poor-standard courses offered primarily for profit.
In its attempt to establish Trichology as a respectable vocation among the caring professions, The Society offers its distance learning courses to dedicated and tenacious students through its 'Faculty of Pure Trichology'.
The following notes will therefore be of interest to you.
General information + The Curriculum .
This course is conducted entirely through research. For this the student will require a suitable computer equipped for internet use. All contact with The Society is maintained via email. Essays are researched primarily using the internet and transmitted to tutors for marking via email.
The Society's Education facility set at UK degree level is the highest standard within this discipline - worldwide.
Students must be members of The Society. To apply for Student Membership please request an application form from the Director of Education.
The Society operates this educational course on a credits accruement basis (like Open Universities). The rate of progression may be tailored to suit the aptitudes of individual students. Ideally the course will be of two-three year's duration.
Students at enrolment are expected to have attained a good standard of general education, and preferably higher education to degree level or beyond.
The minimum acceptable qualification will usually be ordinary and advanced level school leaving certificates (or equivalent) in appropriate subjects e.g. Biology, Chemistry, English. Students who do not possess these will be expected to acquire them contemporaneously at their local College of Further & Higher Education.
Applicants should initially establish their educational standing with regard to any course credits which may, in special cases, be awarded.
Coursework essays are to be presented (by email please) to the Director of Education as follows:
20 essays during each student's academic year at a constant rate of 2 essays per month (except December and August when examiners do not work). The Society is not able to mark more than 2 essays per month. A student who for medical reasons is unable to provide two essays on certain months should contact the Director of Education immediately.
